Page anchors are links internal to your site that allow a visitor to jump to a new, very specific location, either within the same page or in another page in your site.

Creating your Anchor Destination

The anchor represents the target where you want to send your visitors.

1. Navigate to the page or block where you want your visitor to land when they click an anchor link. This represents the destination.
2. You will want to pick a spot at the beginning of a subsection's title or paragraph. Once you've chosen the beginning of the text section, click in that area with your mouse.
3. Click the flag icon  in your WYSIWYG bar to begin configuring your anchor destination.
4. A dialogue box will appear requesting an Anchor Name. This should be all one word. Example:  ferpafaq.
5. Click OK, then click the Save button to finish.

Linking to an Anchor from within the same page

1. While on the same page as your Anchor destination, locate the text you want to use as the link to the target destination.
2. Highlight the text and click on the sideways chain or Link icon located in the WYSWYG icon bar (located in the first row of icons, fifth from the left).
3. In the dialogue box that appears, type in # followed immediately by the name you assigned to your anchor.
   Example: #ferpafaq

Linking to an Anchor located on a different page on your site

Linking to anchors on other pages in your site if very much as described above except you add the URL path to the page as well. 

1. Highlight the text in the page that will contain the link pointing to your Anchor destination on the separate page.
2. Click on the chain or Link icon  located in the WYSIWYG icon bar.
3. In the dialogue box that appears, format your link with your page name followed by #anchor name.
   Example: /students/insurance/ferpa#ferpafaq

Linking to anchors in external site locations

As above, if you happen to know of an anchor that exists on someone else's site and you would like to direct your visitors specifically to that section, including the full URL link plus the #name.
