There is a section in most of the content types called "Promotion Options", located on the right side of the screen at the bottom of the Additional Options panel. In this section, you can choose to make "sticky at the top of lists" and/or make it "Feature Content".
Sticky at top of lists
When applied to a piece of content using the Article, Person, or Event content types, the node in question will be assigned to the top of the list when displayed in News, Events, or Directory pages or in your custom Views, depending on how they have been configured.
An urgent announcement at the top of the News or a prominent person profile are examples of how the Sticky option might be used.
- Edit the Article content.
- Expand the Promotion Options section and check the Sticky at top of lists check box.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save to apply the update.
- Navigate to the site view, click on the News section in the main menu and review your list of articles with your preferred article listed at the very top of the rest of the content.
Feature Content
When applied, SiteFarm restyles the article listing as it appears on the news page, assigning a block of color to make it stand out.
- Edit the Article content.
- Expand the Promotion Options section and check the Feature Content checkbox.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save to apply the update.
- Navigate to the site view, click on the News section in the main menu and review your list of articles and locate your featured content.
Demonstration of Promotion Options
Here is an example of the basic list of news articles. SiteFarm will list them in the order they were created in the system. Let's focus on "Hearts in Suspension (Essay Collection)" as the article we're looking to promote
Fig. 1 - The default view of news articles with no promotion options used.
Fig. 2 - The list has been updated to assign the Featured content option for the Hearts article. Notice now that its background color has been updated to a solid red, denoting its categorization assignment allowing it to stand out amongst the other articles.
Fig. 3 - The final example combines the Featured content with Sticky at top of lists, which now pushes our article to the top of the page above all the other articles regardless of creation/publish date.
